I agree. Living here in Japan for almost 5years now and I am still surprised that Japanese really don't care about history. My wife even learned history from DRAMA. I agree that past is past, but we need to learn something from it to prevent it from happening again.

Honestly what is the point of history if you are not going to go into detail on recent history. The middle ages and primal history are of course basic knowledge but it not like they are unique to any place. you have the old stone age, hunter-gatherers, then young stone-age with settlements, making of aristocracy, bronze, iron etc. thats not unique to any part of the world so it's more like natural history and maybe should be K-9 and the modern stuff 8-12. i really feel like many japanese dont understand american history, which is why your economy is stagnating (joe biden has a point with xenophobia or at least anti-immigration policies in asian countries). This is why Germany overtook Japan now. (also: if you like your way of democracy, you need american and European history to really get it) And whith 'the past should stay the past' you are digging yourself in such an unbelievably deep hole.... you have an obligation through your history. and china is the big one so you'd better start being a little more apologetic and diplomatic, even if they are autocrats. and that doesn't mean you have to suck up to anyone. half of your history you have from them. your god damned writing system. and all that pussytalk about the a-bombs. the alternative would have been american firebombings and a soviet invasion and a Tokyo wall?? you dont have to deal with bomb duds all over the place that could blow up any time. really, the japanese have a history-problem. just as the americans have one with 'black history'; slavery and civil rights movement. there is more than enough time and space for japanese, asian, ancient and world history in K-12. P.s. Einstein had some 'interesting' views on the Japanese. And not all positive.

I think that is what you are trying to say Miyuki history needs to be shared good or bad all our countries are guilty of pretty bad stuff in the past we need to learn about it, so our future generations don't repat it. We don't have to be proud of it, but we do need to teach it.
